Premium British skincare brand, ELEMIS, has been awarded the accolade of Certified B Corporation, in recognition of the brand’s sustainable business practices.
The certification comes less than two years after ELEMIS implemented a new set of initiatives in a move towards social and environmental sustainability.
The B Corporation movement is a non-profit network which campaigns for sustainable practices, transparency, and corporate accountability. The network also aims to promote ethical business practices to protect the human rights of a firm’s employees, workers, customers and the local communities it reaches.
To achieve certified B Corp status, businesses must achieve a score of at least 80 during a rigorous and comprehensive assessment of the firm’s operations. Achieving a score of 93 points, ELEMIS certainly proved it meets the high standards the network reflects.
In response, ELEMIS has announced a new comprehensive sustainability strategy which aims to make progress within issues including biodiversity, sourcing accountability, packaging minimisation and the empowerment of people.
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says: “We know that Elemis is going to be a fantastic addition to the B Corp community and will continue to drive the conversation forward. This is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the beauty industry.”
